Some will feel so completely lost and defeated

and make the fateful decision to take their own life.

This decision is something they may have thought about a million times.

Even planned out in various scenarios.

Believing that the world, and everyone they love, is somehow better off without them.

That all their pain would just go away.

When the decision is finally made it is usually done in a moment of

desperation and despair.

A split second in time

“How long is forever?” asks Alice.

“Sometimes just one second” replies the White Rabbit.

Suicide does not take the pain away.

It lives forever in the hearts and souls of those who love you.

Left behind for them to bear.

With feelings of regret and self blame.

Woulda, coulda, should haves.

Why didn’t I say or do more?

How could we not see?

Why did they feel as though this was their only choice?

Holding themselves responsible for not only your pain but that you felt you could not

come to them with your sorrows, that they, could not help you through it.

Never lose your Muchness...

Suicide takes more than just ONE life.

It takes Families. It takes Communities.

It all begins with Alice falling 'Down the Rabbit Hole'.

This is very much like living with depression and/or anxiety.

You feel as if you are falling down, into to a world of confusion with no bottom in sight.

A constant free fall into irrationality.

Frantically searching for the right key to open up the doors of your mind

and find the perfect answer to which everything finally makes sense.

Being in the right ‘size’ or ‘frame of mind’ to adapt to the situation at hand

and learn from the unexpected.

Depression is a long windy road with many forks and the paths,

sometimes, begin to fade.

You may not find your way at first but each road will take you a little closer.

You just have to have a little faith in yourself and the journey.

If the first road did not take you where you needed to be,

take the second and the third and so on...

“Would you tell me please, which way I ought to go from here?’

“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the cat.

“I don’t much care where, “ said Alice.

“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the cat.

“...So long as I get somewhere,” Alice added as an explanation.

“Oh you're sure to do that,” said the cat, “If you only walk long enough”

Life is a series of lessons, not perfections.

Down the Rabbit Hole

Mad Hatters Ball is a community and events page designed to

Raise Awareness and End the Stigma

of Mental Health.

1 in 5 Canadians will be affected by one form of Mental Illness or another in their lifetime.

Our Friends, Family, Neighbors, Sisters, Brothers, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Mothers and Fathers. Young and Old. It is NOT an isolated illness.

Taking only women and children or people with green eyes.

NONSENSE!

Mental Illness is a nonbiased sickness.

Anyone, from any background can be affected

from the Mad Hatter to the Queen of Hearts.

It affects those we love, and even ourselves.

Many people who suffer from depression and/or anxiety also experience thoughts of suicide.

They will rarely fully express the way they feel because many people

do not fully understand the disorder. Nor can they truly understand that

no one person deals with it in the same manner.

In many cases those affected do not themselves understand what they are feeling or why.

"I am afraid I can not explain myself, Sir. Because I am simply not myself, you see." said Alice.

Thus, there is no ‘quick fix’, leaving the person feeling more

isolated and alone as well as helpless and hopeless in their struggles with no end in sight.

As though, they will never, find their way.

Always remember as you walk down the street

There are people fighting battles

you cannot see

So lend an ear,

extend your hand,

and Remember...

there is always, time for Tea

 With Love,
